What should I do if the AeroFS Desktop Client doesn't start?

If you are experiencing an issue where AeroFS won't start, then it's likely that the data files used by AeroFS have become corrupted.

To fix this, you will have to delete these data files.

These file are stored in the locations listed below; simply delete the folder and relaunch AeroFS:

On Mac OS X:

  • AeroFS: ~/Library/Application Support/AeroFS
  • AeroFS Team Server: ~/Library/Application Support/AeroFSTeamServer

On Linux:

  • AeroFS: ~/.aerofs
  • AeroFS Team Server: ~/.aerofsts

On Windows Vista, 7, 8, and newer:

  • AeroFS: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\AeroFS
  • AeroFS Team Server: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\AeroFSTeamServer

On Windows XP:

  • AeroFS: C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\AeroFS
  • AeroFS Team Server: C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\AeroFSTeamServer

The next time AeroFS launches, AeroFS will prompt you to set up and rebuild these data files.
