How do I share a folder?

Sharing A Folder FromThe AeroFS Icon

  1. Click on the AeroFS icon > Manage Shared Folders >Add
  2. Select the folder you would like to share.
  3. Enter the email addresses of the users you want to share the folder with, select the permission level (Owner, Editor or Viewer) using the drop down menu next to Invite as and click OK.
  4. Once the users accept your email invitation, your shared folder will appear on their devices inside their AeroFS folder.

Sharing A Folder From The AeroFS Folder

  1. Go into your AeroFS folder
  2. Right-Click on the folder that you wish to share, then click on AeroFS > Share This Folder...
  3. Enter the email addresses of the users you want to share the folder with and click OK.
  4. Once the users accept your email invitation, your shared folder will get created on their devices inside their AeroFS folder.

Inviting Users From The Admin Web Panel

  1. Log into your Admin Web Panel and click on Manage Shared Folders, then click on Actions >Manage Members.
  2. Enter the email address of a user you wish to invite to your folder, select the level of access (Owner, Editor or Viewer) you want to grant them and click Invite to Folder. Repeat this until you have no more users to invite, then click Close.
  3. Once the users accept your email invitation, your shared folder will get created on their devices inside their AeroFS folder.

Inviting Users From The Command Line Interface

  1. Open a Terminal window.
  2. Type invite [OPTIONS] [PATH] [USER], where:
  • [OPTIONS] can be -r, --role specifies the role (Owner, Editor, or Viewer). If unspecified, default role is Editor.
  • [PATH] is the path to the location of the folder you wish to share.
  • [USER] is the email address of the user you wish to share your folder with.
  • In the screenshot below, we send an invitation with "Viewer" permissions to "matt@aerofs.com" to share the folder titled "Demo".
AeroFS> ls
Demo
AeroFS> invite -r viewer Demo matt@aerofs.com

Once the user accepts your email invitation, your shared folder will get created on their device inside their AeroFS folder.
